As an in-home sales consultant you are really an independent agent and I have found that most employers do not care what you do, and will not micro-manage you, as long as you produce sales. If I want to stop for a cup of coffee between appointments, I can do so. I am not stuck at a desk all day. I make my own schedule.

I’ve never cold called or knocked on doors to drum up business. Some sales pros do so and like it – but it was never for me. Don’t think that you have to do this to be in sales. If you do not like having to do lead generation, seek out positions where the company will generate the leads for you.
